A proud army wife, french bulldog mommy, and first-generation Chinese immigrant, Shanshan opened the doors to her North Hollywood restaurant envisioning a diverse vegan menu reflecting the vibrant melting pot of Los Angeles.

I opened Gokuku to extend my family to every Angeleno in this incredible city, by offering them a friendly respite to pause and connect over a guilt-free and truly delicious vegan meal.
As a self-taught chef who’s always been fascinated by different cultures and contrasts, I love the challenge of coming up with vegan sushi and ramen dishes that look just as amazing as they taste––it’s a beautiful medium with never-ending potential for creative expression!
